How to cover clean out drains in basement flooring
We are finishing our basement and have 2 clean out accesses that need to stay accessible. How can we cover these without installing carpeting or other flooring materials?

If you cover it up it won't drain. You need some wire to lay flat, and secure it with a cement drill. It's called Hilti gun, and you can rent it a Home Depot or Lowe's for 1/2 day or for 24 hrs. You need to leave a deposit.
Do you have actual drains in the basement. That cover in the photo is a plug. A rubber "donut" between two metal plates. Inserts into a drain, tighten the wing nut, the "donut" expands and seals the drain . Those are used to prevent a back up of water from haevy rains or clogged sewer lines. They really shouldn't be used as the pressure from any backup can rupture sewer lines. If used the plugs should be further down the drain level with the floor so not to be a trip hazard. Depending on the flooring you plan to use you can make a removable panel out of the flooring and just caulk it in place popped off when access is needed.
I love the picture, Alane! I already gave you several suggestions in your other post. After seeing this pic, I’ll add one more: use a wooden planter with plants that come up to your waist. Just make sure the planter/s have a raised bottom that clears the drains. ☺️
One other suggestion is to have an anti reverse valve put in so that you dont get water backing up into your basement
