What can I do to keep my kitchen floor clean for a longer time?

We bought at the beginning of the year and moved in February. I have an alley kitchen, with a cream colored tile and it shows everything. I have to mop it everyday or every other day or else it looks disgusting. I have two rugs, one large (round) and a 3x5 rug. Is there any tricks of the trade to help keep my floor looking cleaner for longer or do you have any other suggestions. Thanks from a full time student and mom who's always busy. ;-)

  • Join the club. I do a quick mop every night before going to bed. For me it is a pile of pets, 6 dogs, 6 cats, a canary and a dragon. I have not found a way around it. Wish there were magic fairies to come do it for us. šŸ™„

Hopefully another Hometalker has a magic potion for us!

Put a nice little bench and basket by the front door. Take off your shoes and request all guests to do the same thing as soon as you enter the house. Kitchen floors will stay cleaner!

Try putting down a long runner rug down the entire length of your kitchen. That way you can vacuum weekly.

I have clients with white floors and I use a Swiffer on it daily, takes a minute. I like the one with bottle of solution and spray mop the best, but I also just like the swiffer with the wet wipes you use. Easy. I have also had clients especially ones with dogs, add a mat outside the door that looks like astro turf.... gets a lot off their and your feet before you hit the kitchen.
