I would try a good cleaning with Murphy Oil soap. Let dry and redo
you might try murphys oil soap -- not sure of the spelling
Take a piece of cottonwool. Put eucalyptus oil on it. Rub it onto the stickyness. Repeat if you need to.
Murphys oil soap is magic in these situations!!
the 'stickyness' is years of build-up of polishes, waxes, and human skin cells (which might be accompanied by grape jelly and/or peanut butter....but maybe that's MY story). It's probably worse in hot/humid weather... Murphy's oil soap is THE answer. Applied with sponges that have a scrubber surface. It will take time and elbow-grease ( do one chair a day). And ditch those polishes and waxes.
