Remove it with heat. Lay a towel on top of the stain and place a hot iron on top of it to raise out the stain. Repeat the process until it's removed -

Definitely try Howard's Restore-a-Finish. Use a soft rag first, then if that doesn't work, use some fine steel wool. No prep needed, but just remember to apply following the direction of the wood grain, and wipe off excess.Howard's is the magic repair to fix most surface wood damage.Inexpensive, about $8 at Home Depot, no tools needed and it works wonders! -
