Hello, my daughter hung magazine photos on her wall and last night she took them down but it left a big black stain(newsprint) is there any way to get the stain out without ruining the paint on the wall . Thank you all for your time.

Hi! First I would try a Mr Clean Eraser sponge. That pretty much removes all kinds of scuffs and marks. If no luck, then I would try hairspray, which removes ink from all kinds of surfaces. Other than that, using a commercial cleaner like Goof Off might do the trick.

@Sue@CountryDesignHome It's the alcohol in the hairspray that works. Because I keep Germ-X in every room (?) I seem to grab that to remove all kinds of things, food stains, grease stains and paint from paint brushes. (craft) My guess would be to try soap and water first

I use that Mr clean Sponge too, but if you don't have one handy, a baby wipe will take all or most off & alcohol but you have to be careful too much alcohol will take the paint off the wall, so only if its like a white wall try it - I would also google more options Good luck

Most of the previous answers are my go to answers for most everything. If the other tricks don't work gently scrubbing with some baking soda might help. All of these might depend on the type of paint and whether it actually soaked into it. If it a flat paint any of these might hurt the paint. A magic sponge can take paint off in some cases.

Not clear as to whether it has seeped into the paint or is just a surface stain. Lots of good suggestions have been given. Hopefully, one or more of them will work.

I have had great luck with Pine Sol. Use a damp cloth with some Pine Sol straight out of the bottle. It will probably remove the stain and not hurt your paint finish.
