Hi Janet, it is in the small apartment. It comes from the common hallway, people smoke but are not supposed to. I have sealed the door with weather stripping and that works, but just the slightest smell of smoke and I have a bad reaction to it. I open the windows before I leave and leave them open a while after I open the door and go in. What can I put in the long hallway, and what can I use in the apartment. I have tried a low aroma plug in air freshener, that's ok. I'd like to kill any smell not just try to cover it up. Thanks for getting back to me.
Yes those plug ins are just a cover up. Where can you get the little cans of odor absorbers for smoke? What are they called, brand name? Thanks Janet, Mike.
Try kitty litter in a pan, the kind that absorbs litter box odor. It worked in a vehicle I bought. Also put charcoal in an open container out of sight, that too will work very well.
$ stores, discount stores, pharmacies, dept. stores, sell a smoke absorber in what looks like a chip dip container. It is called Air Sponge or can have a name like Smoke Absorber, or Destroyer or Eater. It is a gel that dries up. The concept was first used years ago by fire departments. Even if you can't find the ones for smoke, they all basically do the same thing. I remember even getting a frangrance-free one, at one time. It is not the same thing as the bright-coloured, floral or citrus gels and beads. Inside the container, is a navy or black blob with a textured top.
I've had a lot of luck with treating stinky objects with Nature's Miracle.(find it at pet stores for removing urine or other smells from fabric or wherever.) I would try spraying some in the hallway outside of your door and perhaps inside too.
Thanks Kandie, I WILL TRY THAT on the carpet in the hall, it's a very long hall but maybe near my door will help. I have tile floors in my apt. so no old carpet to worry about. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?
My daughter helped me clean my home for company and I have 3 cats and two dogs... (littlest dog is having a yeast problem that permeats everywhere!) She sprayed furniture down with OdoBan. It left a nice clean smell throughout the house. I have worked in places where smoke smell was everywhere also, and this was used to clean tile floors and surfaces also. Try it, bet it does the job!

You got to get past the nutty gritty. The second day of spring is today. Window screens. Curtains. Blinds. Plus the odd ban. You can put a cup of it in the washer machine if you want to wash small rugs or curtains. It helps to have a small scrub brush for screens and window tracks. I hope it want too hard to guitar smoking. Good luck on this mission if you accept it.
odo ban, natures miracle, both are great products. it you use these products to clean nicotine covered walls, wear gloves. nicotine can be absorbed thru the skin.

Report it to the manager. Yuk! An open dish or MAnY of vinegar can banish odor but you have an ongoing source. Sorry, I sympathize with you.

Available over the www and at some Walmarts is a Lord Byron's Smokers
Candle . It takes out cigar odors, bacon cooking odors, chicken cooking odors, cigarettes, cat, fish, etc. Cost me about $5. Excellent product.

I bought a Alpine air purifier to clean the air of all smell,s it stops all the house of every bad
smells you can think of. Check it out on the computer ,they are really good for many reasons
