How to clean an old dirty wood rocking horse?

l purchased a wooden rocking horse at a yard sale and it is in desperate need of cleaning. What is the best way to do this ? l know how to replace the yarn mane and tale, but not sure how to clean the wood.

I'd try Murphy's Oil Soap.
Wash the wood with a mixture of one cup vinegar, a few squirts of Dawn dish liquid to one gallon hot water. Rinse well and let dry. The vinegar will kill any mold and spores.
