Use a ready-to-use mold killer, do NOT use ANYTHING you have to add water to (water makes mold spread...seriously spread). Keep your bathroom door open at all times possible - do not close it up after showering. Consider an air purifier (won't notice it on your electric bill) and I swear that running 2 of the TRUE HEPA ones in my apartment probably won't ALLOW any mold to grow.

spray bleach on it and let it sit. It should wipe right off

I'm not sure if what I have on my bathroom ceiling are mold or mildew spots, but they are black and appear about every 4 or 5 months and are unsightly. I have a sponge mop dedicated to this clean-up chore as I don't do ladders any more. I recommend X-14 Instant Mildew Stain Remover. Spray some on the mop and lightly scrub these spots, and they instantly disappear. (Warning: So will the color in your clothing, bath mat or rug if you spill some on it, so be advised. It is instantaneous bleach!) Nothing else works for me on these unsightly spots.

Bleach and the heavy mildew sprays can be very toxic to breathe in. Try this recipe for homemade... usually cheaper and works great.. without all the toxicity! What You’ll Need:1/2 cup water1/2 cup distilled vinegar15-20 drops of tea tree oilSmall spray bottle Direction:Pour some vinegar into a spray bottle without watering it down.Spray the vinegar onto the moldy surface and leave it on overnight.Wipe clean the area with water and allow the surface to dry. you can also use baking soda and vinegar mixed.. (careful, it fizzes!!) in a paste... and scrub with brush or toothbrush. Best of luck!

Fill a spray bottle with vinegar and dawn dish soap..... spray, scrub, whip it all away. I use this all over my home.

We had this issue in our small bathroom as well. I used diluted bleach, two parts water to one part bleach. I used a mask and gloves and a shower cap while spray treating. Let sit for 15-20 minutes and then go back and scrub. Bleach is cheap, and I bought the cheapest bottle I could at the 99 cent store. Once the stains were gone we went to Home Depot and purchased mold resistant paint and repainted the entire bathroom with it. We have had a minor problem recur on the ceiling, but that's because my teenage daughter never cracks the window when she showers. I retreated the ceiling with the bleach/water solution, secured the window in a locked open position and our problem has vanished. Be sure to wash the shower curtain in warm soapy water (no bleach here) as well to cut down on spore migration.

NEVER use bleach! I worked in the insurance industry for almost 20 years, I took a class on molds. Once bleach hits the mold, its spores explode into the air, resulting in a kind of air contamination. Which means it can get into your lungs. Which means........ possible infections. Not to mention other family members and pets

@Theresa Henne I have heard not to use bleach, also. It bleaches out the color of the mold, and you think it is gone. However, it does not get rid of the mold. The concrobium mold control spray supposedly encases the spores so that they cannot start growing.

As for shower curtains, I have read that if you wash them in salt, they will not mold.

I suffer from COPD, Asthma and am chemical sensitive. In a self-help book for allergies I found that 20 mule team borax in warm water using a sponge mop. I could not believe how beautifully it cleaned up the mold. It also stated to keep a container of borax (with holes for air flow on the top) in the bathroon to help prevent the mold from returning. Hope this helps. God bless.
