How to remove rust from ball mason jars that had rusted caps?

I would soak in CLR and use an abrasive pad. -

You can just replace the caps. -

About every 10 years we need to buy new caps (unfortunately they don't last forever). -

I accomplished it by scrubbing with dish detergent and an abrasive pad. Slow but eventually effective. Thanks for all the suggestions. -
