Contact your County's office and ask if they provide a house cleaner for the disabled. Our county does.Helpful Reply -

Clean as you go. Instead of putting dishes in the sink. Put them straight in the dishwasher or had wash them as you use them. Depending on your disability, remember ”a body in motion stays in motion”. So as you make a mess clean it up and it won’t build up.Helpful Reply -

Sharon, it would help if I knew the nature of your disability. Physical, visual...? My sister has Parkinsons, but if you are in a wheel chair, your needs might be different. Let me know.1 marked as helpful Reply -

You don't say your disability? Maybe ask about your neighbourhood to see if there is any help available for you.........Helpful Reply -

It depends on the disability- a good occupational therapist can adapt handles, adjust other tools for easy use. Do you recall the saying that startes Monday wash day? Tuesday iron day Wednesday sewing day, Thursday market day, Friday cleaning day, Saturday baking day, Sunday day of rest? Breaking it down to manageable portions..with a specified task for the day. You can make your own schedule I’m just glad I don’t have to fill the wash tub, get the scrubber board out ,and manually ring the clothes Between 2 rollers. Yup done that. If your laundry is down in a basement....see if it can be brought up. It may land in the garage or kitchen. Beats carrying laundry up the steps. You can can use any “schedule” that works for you. The hardest part is getting started.there are reachers grabbers that mighty handy for getting things up off the floor. Occasionaly that on line retailer A. Worlds largest on line store , will discount them. Picked up a few models on a daily deal. A small wooden crate with wheels attatched to the bottom and an eye hook on the front to clip a dogs leash to it lets you pull your cleaning supplies and not carry them. If there is a Boy Scout program in your area...making one for you might give the kid points for community service.Helpful Reply -

It completely depends on the disability. Is occupational therapy available? My dear friend is limited to her wheelchair and she has really creative solutions. She has extension sticks that help her get to hard to reach areas. Her mud room is open enough for her chair and all of her “tools” are easily accessible for her.Helpful Reply -
