goo gone, peanut butter, soak in hot water....I'm sure there are others
I use Goo Gone. It's the simplest, and works the best.
Lighter fluid
Fill the jar with hot water while soaking in warm, sudsy water. Try to remove the warm label and glue with the back side of a butter knife. Use a scrubbie with dish soap, veg oil, PB or Goo Gone to remove the residual stickiness; repeat as necessary.
goo gone
its an awesome spray
Apply Goo Gone on the sticky residue and place a napkin on top of the area that you just sprayed. Then spray more glue gone on top of the napkin let it sit for an hour. The residue should come off quite easily at this point.
Goof off, GooGone, all are available in hardware stores, it works like a charm for removing any sticky residue on pretty much anything. I just used it on two jars that were great for storing things in my sewing room and they are like new. Soak the sticky stuff and wash with Dawn to remove a lot and spray the Goo Gone (or whichever you prefer), let it sit for maybe 5 minutes and use Dawn on a cloth or sponge to finish it up.
You can try nail polish remover. sometimes soaking them in hot water and vinegar will help.
