put the lid inside some sort of container that you can close. Crunch up a bunch of newsprint, the stuff that is messy and gets all over your hands like a real newspaper and stuff it all in the box with the lid. Put the cover on the container and let it sit for a few days, you can check it out after a few days and add some fresh newsprint as well. It will take the smell out of the plastic, just how long will depend on how bad the smell is.Helpful Reply -

Try to soak on a soap with lime or lemon skin over night. I usually put a plastic food wrap on top of the container before I put the lid , that helps the smell will not stick to the lidHelpful Reply -

Wet the lid and make a thick paste with cool water and salt.. rub with finger tips and cool water/more salt as needed. This trick will also remove onion and garlic odor from your hands- a bonus benefit is it will leave your hands very soft and smooth. Scientifically it's called an ionic exchange since salt has a negative charge - the odors 'stick' to the salt and it gets rinsed down the drain..1 marked as helpful Reply -
