Stains on Hard Surface (Corian) under mount sink

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Mar 25, 2013Try using corn starch and water. Make a paste and use a buffing pad to rub the offended area. If it is a surface stain it should polish it out. White polishing compound that you use on car finishes also work well. Normally this type of material does not absorb stains.Helpful Reply

Mary Insana on Mar 26, 2013Janice, my white Corian stains all the time too. What I do is keep a spray bottle of diluted bleach and water under the sink and give it a spray just about every day to keep it clean and sanitized. If life gets in the way and I don't get to it every day I just use a soft scrub with bleach and make a paste and let it sit for a few minutes after I scrub the sink, When I had the sink put in I never though it would stain like it does :(Helpful Reply

Janice S on Mar 26, 2013Thank you everyone, Mary I too wish they had told me this would happen. I have tried all of your suggestions - to no avail. I should have kept my old enamel sink.Helpful Reply

Mary Insana on Mar 26, 2013Janice, did you try the bleach solution? If it still didn't come out call whomever installed it and maybe they can buff it out with whatever they polish the finished counters and sinks with . All my stains have always come out with the bleach spray. Maybe try laying a white rag and saturated a bleach solution over the stains overnight and see what happens. Can't hurt. Good Luck.Helpful Reply

Sherrie on Mar 28, 2013Woodbridge and Mary L. Gave you the right cleaning instructions. Here is a really simple tip so you can find the right cleaning instruction for your surface products. Goggle "Cleaning and installation Guidelines". In this case Corian sinks! Corian is a wonderful product, so my guess is you will have to sand it. That is the magic of corian. But go to guidelines they give you the right answers. As Woodbridge and Mary but since the guidelines are more in depth. www.kitchen-worktops-complete.co.uk/care-and-maintenance-of-cor...Helpful Reply

Liz on Jun 25, 2014I just used white vinegar and baking soda, mixed it together and heated it in the microwave for 30 seconds (I find with vinegar it is always more effective when it is hot, for some reason). I let it sit for a minute on the Corian countertop (not a sink) and then scrubbed it with a toothbrush. The stain, a bad one of unknown origin, is almost invisible now. I see I am very late to this conversation and perhaps the problem is solved but thought I'd throw this out there just in case!Helpful Reply
