Hi Marie. I clean mine with just a damp cloth. If they look stained you can use warm water and a little dish soap. Just do not submerge them in water. It can weaken the silk thread.

I just use water, no chemicals, as some pearls are strung on string. As far as a cleaner, I would go to a reputable jeweler and ask what kind of care they need to keep the luster they have. I am sure it also depends on what kind of pearl they are.

    Hi Marie,

Pearl jewelry must be cleaned very gently. The first step is to gently rub the pearls with a soft cloth. You can use warm, soapy water, but the link below says to never put the whole strand in the water. Click on the link to read what they have to say. Wishing you the best.

Only wipe the pearls with a damp cloth. If there is a buildup of makeup, hairspray etc., use a cloth with mild solution of baby shampoo on a damp cloth and wipe that off with clean damp cloth then dry with clean cloth. Do not soak pearls or put in an ultrasonic cleaner.
