How do I clean off shiny spots on kitchen cabinets?

I have beech cabinets, no shiny finish. Around the knobs there’s a shiny place I can’t seem to clean off. I know it’s from oily hands but Dawn does nothing.Any suggestions?

What has happened if you actually polished the finish from cleaning and use. You need to dull it back down . Remove the knob and scrub the shiny area with 0000 steel wool or 000. If that doesn't work, try washing that area with TSP. If still shiny you may have to reapply the flat finish that was used to that area. Shiny bruises are common on flat finishes. Flat isn't as durable as a sheen.
I would try a small amount of TSP and lightly scrub. :)

To me it is oil from your fingers. Try a little vineger and water or Krud Kutter.
