Baking soda and an emery scrubber works well for me. Also, SOS pads or barkeeper's friend work well.
Bar Keepers friend will take them out.
Stainless will tolerate a lot of scrubbing. I’d add just a little soap to the Ajax, Comet, Barkeepers Friend to break down the oil.

For stainless steel, make a paste of baking soda and water, smear this over the pots and let it set overnight. The next day scrub it off with a sponge with the rough side. You may have to repeat depending on the stain.
If on the inside of the pot, you could fill the affected area with water and add baking soda to let soak.
