Soak in Lime-Away for a few minutes, scrub if necessary and rinse and rub dry.
Hello Al, You can use good old fashioned white vinegar to remove the rust. After rust is gone, store your tools in a bucket of sand. It keeps the moisture away.

My hubby uses WD40 and that is it, he doesn't wash it off as it also works as a lubricant to keep it working well. He occasionally may use a real fine sandpaper on the blades of some that are really bad.
Selling a lot of vintage and antique tools on Ebay. So heavily rusted none of the suggestion would work. Electrolysis was the only way for me.
