I would use THE WORKS. If it can remove rust from your toilet, it should remove rust from your siding.
Aluminum doesn't rust, so it must be from someone not using galvanized screws/nails or aluminum one. I would switch out the bad ones for a long-term solution.
You may actually have steel siding if it was installed in the 60’s or 70’s. Aluminum doesn’t rust.
CLR is an excellent rust remover. Also, a mixture of IronOut powder and a little water to make a paste works well. Be sure to use rubber gloves when working with either of these solutions.
