How do you remove rust from rock?

I have a few rocks that I would like to use as border decoration, but they have a lot of discoloration on them - looks almost like rust. Does anyone know any tricks to remove this coating, whatever it is? It's not the natural color of the rock, but I'm not sure what it is that turns them unless they are just exposed to the elements for a very long time. Thanks!

Try spraying with mold mildew remover and pressure wash
That could also be a mineral in the rock that you may not be able to clean off.
How about Coke ?
Wood ?Bleach / Oxalic Acid works !
Those stains may just be the natural elements of the rock but if you want to see if you can remove the stains check out this link. Lots of great ideas!
Try a little vinegar. If it foams up rinse it off the rock has granite in it. Can etch it. Hydrogen peroxide might clean it off without any damage. Mineral spirits may work.
'Wink' rust remover. Walmart sells it. I use it on anything that I want rust off of so maybe it works on rocks too.
