You need to put down some grass or either do desert planting with rocks and stepping stones.
It needs to be covered - groundcover plantings, rocks, gravel, mulch, artificial turf, etc. See if these help!

Water . Rubber mulch.
No matter what you use place a thick plastic or rubber sheet down first (they say it kills off weeds but I don't see that )but it will keep the rocks or mulch from sinking into the dirt and dust.
