put some baking soda in the drain and let it sit for a while or my favorite is to run lemon peels through the disposal after you do the dishes every night. You can use orange peels, too.

My best friend told me to put orange peels in it regularly, they ate an orange a day to use in their garbage disposal. Any citrus peel would work so if you buy lemons for drinking water etc that would work too. If I had nothing else, I would sprinkle a little of my citrus LemiShine dish washer additive!

Lemons .... just the peel or in quarters/slices .. and if you use a lot of lemons for iced tea or cooking, just toss them as you use them .. IF you don't use lemons .... any 'deodorizing' cleaner you use around the home will work --- pour your floor mopping rinse water down the drain -- if you use any of the 'PineSol' products .. the lemon, lavendar, fresh scent. etc.

Hi Kathy, hope this recipe helps you out,

Sprinkle a half-cup of baking soda into the opening of the garbage disposal. Pour in a cup of white vinegar and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Turn on the garbage disposal and allow hot water to rinse away the baking soda mixture. As an alternative to baking soda and vinegar, use chopped citrus peels.
