its probably mold in the washing machine.Run it empty with white vinegar
Have you been able to isolate an area it is coming from? It could be in the wall, ceiling or even the inside of the washer and dryer in the back. Sometimes the washing machine can smell, too. I would try to isolate where it is the strongest and go from there. If it is coming from the back of the washer or dryer, you should be able to get the back off to see if a mouse or something died in their. If it is in the wall, you may have to live with it until it decomposes.
Maybe Public heath Inspector?
I would wash everything with vinegar and water. (Walls, floor, washer dryer). Don't worry the vinegar smell will go away.
I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a dead squirrel. =( They couldn't find him, because he was tucked away up under the bathtub, which is close to my laundry room.
dead mouse is a scent all it's own - mouse urine you probably woudn't notice until you had so many mice that you would see droppings, and other signs of them .... DON"T leave a candle burning -- not safe!!! there are other tricks to eliminating bad odors -- dishes of white vinegar, trays of PLAIN charcoal briquettes ( not the ones that have lighter fluid in them); trays of plain baking soda ... have to be replaced -- but won't burn your house down!

Did you ever find out what it was? I have The same problem
Yes, mouse urine and mouse droppings do smell, just went through this mess, oh they are so awful. I have been cleaning with the vacuum and a solution of 20/20 water and vinegar, it helps.
Hi Madeline, hope these help you. Check your floor drain and add clean water
