Brasso polish, followed with a good wax.
If you remove the hardware, polish with Brasso to original color, you can then coat it with a clear coat lacquer. This will require re-treating, once the clear coar begins to wear off.
Brasso brass polish. Available at most hardware stores and some grocery stores.
