How can you organize art pencils?
My husband is an amateur artist who uses art pencils and colored pens to draw with. He has hundreds of them. Some of them are older ones that the companies are close to, or have, retired so he collects multiple backups of each pencil so that when one wears out, he still has another one. He likes to have them organized by set and then by color. How could we organize these without them taking over our small apartment?
All of those Little Caesar boxes are filled with pencils.

How about getting one of the plastic or clothe shoe holder that hangs on the back of the door. It has pockets that you could put the art supplies in.
I use loads of these pencils, too, and have found a great way to store them. I use empty Pringles chips cans. They are just the right height and when you fill them you can easily see the colors of all your pencils.

Myloe,
Oh my, what a task. You can drive yourself nuts on this one, so you need to either keep it simple or make a chart to go by.
With a computer it would be easy to make up an inventory list of all NEW pencils by the major colors and minor colors.
Go on line and get some divided trays that will allow him to store his pencils better. He can sort according to the color wheel.
Here are some links to some GREAT DIVIDERS for small items such as pencils.
