How can you dye an Easter egg purple and get a true color?

I have tried many ways to get beautiful light purple eggs for Easter, but they always come out with red and blue blotches. What am I doing wrong?

Lynne...Rather than dye you can try painting with Elmers glue and food coloring using red and blue for purple. I have not done it on eggs but it is inexpensive and wouldn't hurt to try. Use some glue on a plate and dip toothpick in each color (only need a little) then stir with the toothpick until no white shows and color is what you want. Use a sponge brush. I do this to clear glass and as you brush the paint will streak but when it dries it is beautiful. Since I have suggested this to you I may attempt myself. Hope it works for you!
Hi Lynne, sorry you are having problems dying your purple eggs. Be sure your colors are mixed really well and you may want to start with hot water. Hope this will help you. Happy Easter. How to Dye Eggs Purple With Food Coloring

Hi Lynne. You could try putting both red and blue tablets in a cup with water and vinegar. Once the tablets are dissolved, add a couple drops of both red and blue food dye. The final result will depend on how long you leave the egg in the solution. Good luck with this project.
I suggest u paint with non-toxic watercolor paints
