I need to hide holes in a hollow door from periods owner what can I hang in a patter room that won't seem crowded

How about art work well fastened? There are also some nice wallpaper murals of small sizes that you could apply to the door to cover up the holes depending on how big they are. A wee hint if they are small is to cover them with good quality tape if you are not handy before applying. If you are handy you can actually patch and paint.
Contact paper to cover it. Or paint it.
I’ve seen plenty of instances where people put a mirror on a door. Perhaps this would suit your needs.
