How do I get my home to look festive without a Christmas tree?

My house has become so crowded with furniture that I do not have room to put up a Christmas tree. I want to look festive but do not want to spend too much time doing it.

  • You don't need a tree to be festive. Just scatter your holiday decor around the rooms you want them in and call it a day. I have a 2 foot pine cone tree with lights that I set on a console table in my front window. Takes 2 minutes to set up.

Hang glass ornaments in the windows on clear filament or fishing line. (Can use thumbtacks or tiny nails above trim.

Hang non-breakable ornaments on shower hooks that hold your curtain.

Make lampshade covers out of Christmas fabric by sewing a casing at the top and bottom of a piece of fabric that will go around the widest part of the shade. Run ribbon through the casings and tie the cover over the existing lampshade.

Hang ornaments or lengths of light garland from chandeliers.

Fake a Christmas tree by hanging lights in a Christmas tree shape on a wall using command hooks. Or fake a tree by gluing a Christmas tree shaped piece of felt to a curtain and hanging that on a wall. You could add LED lights to the wall hanging by cutting small holes and poking the lights through (regular lights would get too hot). You could add ornaments to the wall hanging but sewing on buttons to hang the ornaments from.

Add a Christmas tablecloth or placemats to your table.

Wreaths, wall decals, battery candles with timers, garland and lights from door frame - all cute ways to spruce up for the holidays without a tree!

    Hi, Carol,

Use pine boughs, pine cones, spray flocking/snow, sleigh bells on ribbons, artificial or real poinsettias, and Christmas ribbon, woven between items.

Wrap your full lenth mirror or picture frames to resemble wrapped presents.

Use red or green candles, small Christmas themed decor on windowsills, atop china cabinets/bookcases/kitchen cabinets, etc.

Electric or battery operated candles in the windows, paper snowflake cutouts, etc.

I fill glass or crystal containers with bright Christmas balls. Mostly one color per bowl or vase or.... or I'll do a bowl of silver with one or two blue balls or,.... They reflect the lights and brighten your Christmas feeling.
