You will need Mod Podge and paper napkins. Begin with a clean surface. Painted if you prefer. Use a sponge brush and apply a layer of mod podge on your piece. Then separate a paper napkin, you will use only the top layer. You can cut out image from napkin if you like. Carefully put the napkin on your piece and then apply another layer of Mod Podge.

Decoupage Kitchen Cabinets With Andy Warhol Posters
Bonnie...Purchase mod podge from craft store. I like to use 1 ply napkins for my pictures and tear them. Paint the mod podge on glass, wood, tin whatever item you are using. I paint mine on with sponge brush. Lay the torn piece of napkin on carefully then brush again with mod podge. Have fun.
Here is one way I did it on plastic eggs: https://happydealhappyday.com/easter-egg-decorating-idea-decoupage-easter-eggs/
You could get deco glue or just use Elmer’s with a little water and get the item you want to decorate and the material you are using paint the item with glue then put pieces on then paint glue then more pieces on then paint more glue and keep going.
I'll add that there are lots of different types of Mod Podge, and you can even use it to adhere fabric to other items like wood! There's also a type of dishwasher-safe Mod Podge if you want to decoupage things onto dishes.
