dremel tool with diamond coated saw disks.....under trickling water or diamond drill bits for holes---again under trickling water -

Place masking tape where you want to cut the put. draw a line where you want to cut using a dremel tool with diamond cutting disk. if the pot is very small you might not need to cut it under a trickle of water. If it is a larger pot the you will need to cut it under a trickle of water to keep the cutting disk and pot cool. if the pot over heats it might crack where you don't want it to. -

Similar idea to the Dremel tool, but if the pot is large and thicker walled, I would use an Angle grinder fitted with a CUTTUNG DISC> Do not use water - it is not good near electricity!!
