I thin any project which teaches skills that can be brought into adulthood is good- so hand and machine sewing, raising plants and growing a garden, refinishing small pieces of furniture for their room (pick up at thrift stores). Teach how to get a decent outfit at a thrift store- that way no matter what they could dress theirself, if times get tough, suitable to get a job.
