Get yourself a mitre box (I think that is what they are called) from the hardware store. These have the angled cuts in them and you put your saw into the angled cut so you are not trying to measure the angle yourself. The box does the measuring of the angle for you. It is a timber box with three sides - the top being open for the saw to go into. Maybe a foot long or a little more. Twelve inches or so. You should see a choice of three angles for the saw blade to go into for a handsaw. They are like slots in the box and you just put your saw blade into one slot and it guides the saw to make the perfect angle.
