How do I put a hanging hook into the brick wall outside of my house?

I would like to hang a sign or a planter, and I think I need to use an anchor, however I would like to see a step-by-step to ensure I do this correctly. Thanks Kat

wsIt is fairly easy to put a hanger in the mortar joint and tough to drill into brick. Get a plastic wall anchor to fit the size of the screw you need to hold what you are hanging and a masonry drill to fit the anchor. Hang away. As an alternative you can get concrete screws that don't need anchors. In either case insure that the head of the screw is appropriate for your hanging project.
