How to antique a mirror? I hang the mirror in my garden...

It hangs in garden, if mirror is bright the birds fight with it when they see themselves. Need to darken so birds will be safe.

    Usually sanding will remove some of the shiny substance on the back.

    Somewhere I read about spraying the back (after sanding a little) with vinegar...I would try it first in small mirror...I have a good size mirror in my C.Y. and it has gotten older and stained with time...I had used decals and a big plant in front...JMO
