My mom uses decorative hand towels in matching/coordinating colors and lacy placemats or doilies.
Hi there,
Here's a website with instructions for how to make an armchair cover. One of our chairs didn't have covers either and since I don't have a sewing machine anymore, I needed a different solution. I ended up buying hand towels that looked good on the chair and then used upholstery pins to attach the towels to the arms. It works great and I can take them off to toss them in the wash. Wishing you the best.
