Can you put fabric on the wall with wallpaper paste?

I want to put some fabric on the wall to mimic a headboard. I need ideas. Applying it to something to mount on the wall is not an option.

A few years back, I saw some show on HGTV where they used starch (the kind you mix with water) to apply fabric to walls. it makes it removable as well. http://www.cre8tivedesignsinc.com/2013/04/how-to-wallpaper-with-fabric-using-starch/

This popular blogger, Miss Mustard Seed, did a whole wall treatment using fabric applied with starch in her master bedroom: http://missmustardseed.com/2013/02/fabric-wall-treatment/ I don't know why the same technique couldn't be used to mimic a headboard. Yes, why not use liquid starch. Easier and cheaper.

I saw that same program on HGTV. I gave it a try and it worked so well and a lot easier than wallpaper, and when I was ready to change it the fabric came off so easily.

Try taping a piece of lace tightly to the wall covering the exact area you want to look like your headboard. Make sure it is pulled tight. Then lightly spray paint over the lace. Lightly is the key word. After it has dried, remove the lace and you will have a lace headboard. I have lace painted all kinds of things using all different patterns of lace. It is very beautiful.
