For the laundry area I would build a frame with cross braces the height from floor to cabinet bottom out of 1x3 or 1x4 lumber less 1/4" height on the flat. Put double stick tape on the back of the frame, stick it to the wall behind the washer/dryer, and wedge it to the bottom of the cabinet (hence the 1/4" less height) with shims. Mount shelf brackets to the 1x3 or 1/4 lumber for your shelving. I would do the same in the kitchen only the height would be from countertop to cabinet bottom, less the 1/4" for wedging it. Paint the frames before mounting them. The double stick tape and wedges should provide strength for the shelves. Easily removed and the double stick tape can be scraped off with no damage to the tile. Hope you get the idea and hope this helps.Helpful Reply -

Your welcome! I didn't know that was a stove! My Bad! Looked like either a washer or dryer. Same principle. I meant that it would be taped to the wall, wedged between the countertop and the cabinet. This would be a great project to post here. There are a lot of Hometalkers that are renters and have similar situations.Helpful Reply -

Use like a behind the toilet cabinet idea for you soaps and laundry needs. We are also renters and needed the same deal not to drill, screw, or nail into the walls. Works great. Some modifications are needed. Make a smaller version for like over the sink areas, just get those creative juices flowing. Hope this helps. Les CHelpful Reply -

Ask the landlord if you can mount a shelf there---he might say okay as long as he doesn't have to pay for it. But you could put up a tension rod and do a hanging shelf there or just make it a pot rack above the stove or hang utensils from it--that would free up some space elsewhere.Helpful Reply -

You could hang square wire baskets using four to six tension rods, two or three on top and the same on the bottom for extra weight bearing capability.Helpful Reply -
