my mom and i quilt. we put an iron on interfacing the hankies ....mounted them an a quilt square that showed them off. the quilt isn't on display right now- great grandmothers 1930's quilt is up on the wall- or i'd try another photo.
you could block the hankies, and frame them like pictures.
You could make a display or Picture using them as eg: Fan - Ladies skirts - Balloons - Folding them into Kite shapes and making a Circle of them (Point to the Centre) or even Applique them ..........etc
Dfm has a great idea.. love it..
Start by purchasing a large frame w/glass. Glue the handkerchiefs to the cardboard, and hang it. Pick a color for the back round. Buy a large poster board colored paper that would give nice contrast to the handkerchiefs. Good Luck!
I saw where someone had seen hankies together along the edges somehow and made a table runne! It was very pretty!
Somewhere else I saw someone made cafe curtains or a balance using hankies!
I meant to say Valance!

Frame them in a shadow box. Or display them under glass. In the spring I display them on the coffee table stacked so the pretty edges are visible.
