We bought beadboard at Lowe's. My husband put molding around top and sides...legs do not show..just for stability. Sprayed it cream colored to match bedside tables.
Plenty ideas here....www.hometalk.,com/search/posts?filter=Headboards%20in%20Bedroom
I bought an old door that I plan on making into a headboard. My plan is to fill the hole(s) from the knob and lock using Bondo for wood or liquid wood. If the hole is big, put some wood chunks in there first to serve as a base and to make sure you don't need buckets of fill! Sand VERY well so that it is not obvious that the hole ever existed. Paint the door to your liking- shabby chic or an accent color for your decor. I have seen sconce lights attached right to the door to use as reading light and I am going to give this a try. That will save space on the nightstand. I will be mounting mine to the wall using something called a French cleat. You can make your own- we did this with a headboard for my daughter using a length of 2 X 4, but that left a gap of almost 2 inches that required another 2 X 4 to stabilize the headboard. By the way, for her headboard, we just took a piece of plywood cut to the width of the bed (the height can vary per personal desire). I used spray glue to attach 2-inch foam to the plywood, then covered it with batting that wrapped each side. She picked out a fabric for the top cover, and we wrapped and stapled it onto the back of the board. Served her well for many years!
