Usually some little metal clips inside the table apron hold the glass/plexi down even with the rim of the table. You could try drilling, screwing, a L-shaped fastener inside the apron rim in 4 to 6 places to hold the plexi up.. use rubber tips you can buy at hardware store. I have them on my glass tabletop which sits on a metal frame. It doesn't slide or move in anyway.
