How do I do a photo wood transfer?

Question

I am looking to transfer a photo onto a piece of wood similar to the one below. I have looked on Pinterest how to do it but I keep getting mixed reviews on the many techniques listed- the types of Mod Podge, type of paper to use, etc. If you have done such a project- what is the best way you have found to transfer photos onto a piece of wood?? Thank you!

It's the one I used when I did my image transfer project.

From personal experience- it's a really cool project, and impresses everyone. BUT- there is definitely an element of 'getting the hang of it' . I suggest doing a trial run first.

Make sure to cut your picture to the exact image that you want to transfer so that you don't add work for yourself ( i left the white border on my first try and doubled the work removing the paper afterwards).

Also, if you rub too hard when you are removing the paper with the wet sponge, then you can scrub off some of the image- it gives it an even more vintage feel, but might not be your intention.
