Floating shelves will give you room to put some candlesticks/Luminaire candles or something you collect. Last time I had a stone wall, I had a very large driftwood sculpture of a seal coming out from the wall that my Dad carved for me.

I do think a rock wall would look great with wall planters and plants... plants with vines, succulents, whatever you prefer!

Have you tried masonry nails to hang light things?
Heavier things, like mirrors, I would get a masonry drill bit and epoxy in a large masonry nail or lag screw.
I would evaluate what’s in better “nailing” condition, the mortar vs the stone.
You could do a water them or bird them and find a pretty item you like Togo in the room and decorate with that in mind as for theme and color.
