What can I do with space from a removed bedroom (child's) window?
I am removing 2 windows from a bedroom wall that has painted knotty pine walls. I don’t have any matching wood to replace the space and am looking for ideas to fill the spaces. There is approximately 4” of depth to work with.

Make the space into an inset bookshelf!
Removing windows concerns me. Are there other windows? In order to be a "legal" bedroom, there must be at least a window exit. Fire and safety regs. If that is not a concern, then I like Megan's idea of making built in shelving.
I love Megan's bookcase suggestion! If you don't wish to try that, a quick and easy solution would be to find two complementary pictures large enough to cover the spaces.
A picture of the room would be helpful. If you are going to put in insulation and match the exterior of the house that would take up the 4" depth of the window. Inside you may have to put up sheetrock . Faux brick panels would fit the theme of a rustic room.
