How can I make a headboard without nailing to the wall?
I rent and can only use small nails and thumb tacks. I would like to make a headboard as well as other items, but all seem to call for using studs and large nails.
Here are a couple of ideas:

If they are all the same size, line them up above the bed with pictures, then put a ring near the ceiling and drape a sheer curtain through it with tie backs at the sides. Then we got a headboard online that is metal and rearranged our pictures. Here is what we did, if that helps any.
You can make a statement while putting just one word of the statement in each frame. For example, you could put the word "Kiss" in the first frame. Then the word "Me" in the second frame and then the word "Goodnight" in the last frame. You could use a statement that is personal to you. Another idea is to go vertical. You could put 4 or 5 (or more) frames on top of each other. Use a ribbon running down the wall behind the frames so that it looks like they are all attached to the ribbon. Put pictures or graphics or sayings in the frames. You could use as many rows of frames to match the width of your bed.
If you are using them as a headboard, I would replace any glass with acrylic. Good luck.
Make a box the size of your window frames put together from 1 x 4" lumber, and then mount the window frames on top (adding a verticle support between each window, creating a big shadow box for your books, and collectibles. You could add a long 1 1/2' high box below, create a hinged cover in say 3 sections and upholster them for your headrest.
Depending upon your decorating style...add lace or small pics to the frame centers. Maybe a monogram of your first or last names? Paint the frames all matchy matchy or be eclectic about it.
