What can you do with a brick base left in the family room?

There was a base approximately 2' x 3.5' & about of the height of a brick left on the floor of a family room (with wall-to-wall carpet around it)... perhaps from an old fireplace in my daughter's home. How can see decorate or "use" it as pretty sure that it would be painstaking to remove.

We had a wood burning fireplace in our old house. It had a base like the one you are describing. If she doesn't want to install a fireplace, she could use that base for anything that involves water. Like mentioned above, it would be a great place to put plants or maybe even a water feature.
