What do you use to hang something heavy in plaster and lathe walls?

Usually if you're trying to hang something really heavy you have to screw the hanger into a wood stud. You can find a stud in your wall or ceiling by using a "stud finder". (Yes, that's what they're really called.)
We also have the same type walls. Live in a farm house that is over 120 years old. What I have found that works best is a product called 'monkey hooks'. You can find them at all kinds of places from amazon to hardware stores.
