It depends on what size you want your wreath. When I make a great vine wreath I just wind the vines into the size and shape I want. I don't use any other base.

I think it depends on where you are going to hang it. Measure the space you are going to use & let that be the determining factor. Be sure to factor in what you are going to use as decorations for the wreath!
