Its a Vintage Ginger Jar lamp from the 70's. You win the UGLY LAMP contest =:) I agree with DP. You an use craft ceramic paint to paint just the ribbon or paint the whole lamp.Helpful Reply- See 1 previous

I would spray paint the whole lamp base one color so the bow blends in.Helpful Reply -

If you want drama, spray them matte black, then paint the bow metallic gold or silver. Switch lamp shade to black. Another possibility: Take all of the electrical parts off and take the bases really glazed in refined in a color that you will love.Helpful Reply- See 2 previous

Wow Auto correct made a mess of that sentence. Take the lamps to a ceramic studio and have them glazed and refired.Helpful Reply -

Awwww, poor, poor lamp. It just needs a little TLC. Paint the base green and the bow an actual red, bring it out at Christmas for the guest room...or not. Just don't hurt it.Helpful Reply -

Don't you have an aunt who would love to have this? Can you put it on sale? Naturally it depends on your home style. I can't see it in a modern living-room, spray painted or not. You could wrap it in tissus as a whole?Helpful Reply -

I gilded the inside of a black shade with gold gilding sheets from Michael's and the lamp just glows.Helpful Reply -

I am sorry I didn't reply earlier. Some Hometalk posts arrive at my Spam, others in my regular box. Also when I say : tissues you understand the paper kind (to blow your nose in hihihi). I mean "tissus" as in textile. (lost in translation here). If you could choose a nice piece of textile, put the lamp on it in the middle, the lift the textile upwards at the ends and put a nice ribbon around the" neck " of the lamp , just below the little switch, like you would do if you wrap a bottle .Like this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h-I3prj2lQIt is just an idea...Helpful Reply -

I'm thinking of using a rock type textured spray paint on the jar and paint the bow cobalt blue. Shade? A metallic to pick up a shade in the rock finish? JMHOHelpful Reply -

Well, I must be the odd one out -- I kinda like them just the way they are ! lol They're kinda retro and funky, though they do give off a "little girl" sort of vibe. I think they would be a bit much used together, but maybe in separate parts of the house ? Or just use one someplace and let it be a focal point ? Like in an entryway or on a sofa/console table or as a reading lamp in a corner nook ?Worse comes to worse, if you just want to get rid of them, I'd be happy to take them off your hands and give them a good home !!Helpful Reply -

They are loud. If you want to keep one I would also paint it one color and maybe highlight the bow. Use one only so they won't be overpowering.Helpful Reply -
