Helli Karin! If you were looking to make the hallway brighter and appear larger, a good idea would be to put a large mirror on one side and perhaps a lighted window frame at the long end. The lighting in the window frame makes it look like there is a window there bringing light in. Click on the link below to check it out. Good luck!

Yes, that's a great idea from Janet. Also use bead board or a light-colored paint to make it brighter.
