You can lay a floating laminate floor, and many look like wood. or you can also cover the tiles with vinyl flooring. You need to put down a hardboard or plywood under layer which should be glued to the tiles.
Thank you!!
You could use Nucore which is a combo bamboo/vinyl/laminate. It DOES NOT REQUIRE UNDERLAYER which saves a ton of money. Nucore is also waterproof and practically indestructible. Cost is comparable to laminate and it looks like real wood (sorry but one can tell laminate is laminate). We have installed Nucore in every one of our flips and rentals and it has held up for years, even in kitchens and baths.
If you want an even less expensive solution, what about stenciling the tiles in a cool pattern? Stencils are pretty cheap online and all that would cost is about $15 plus painters tape and paint And your time. You then put a top coat on of clear sealer (ask at a hardware store about cement or ceramic clear sealer) in order to keep the paint from rubbing off.
Good luck!
What about some nice area rugs... with rug pads underneath --- to "smooth" out the bumps and help make the rug slip-resistant? = Instant update!
