How can I repair chair-wear on a home office laminate floor?

Laminated floor, supposed to look like dark wood, my husband didn't use a floor protector under his rolling home office chair. Now we have yellowish blemishes in the area in front of his computer. I tried Old English; he tried a cleaner/polisher pair; the rest of the floor looks great but the yellow patches are even BRIGHTER. What now? Dark stain? HELP! We want to sell this house and need a legitimate solution other than replacing the damaged spot.

Hi Sue, I agree with your idea of dark stain. Definitely start small of course and test it first but that's what I would try.

I'm going to go to a place that sells this laminate and see what kind of remedy they recommend. Old English has always been so reliable for years on everything that I was flummoxed when it had no effect. If I find a solution, I'll definitely get the word out. I appreciate your time and concern.

Lightly sand the area where you applied the polish so the stain will get to the 'wood'. Did you use the dark Old English? That stuff is a life saver here with my huge dog on my wood floors. Works every time. They also make laminate repair kits, but not certain if they are worth it.

Thanks, Allison--yes, I used the dark Old English and got zero effect. I'll look into the repair kit; surely I'm not the first person with this problem!
